- The temple was founded in 1889 by local zamindars Dwarampudi Subbi Reddy and Rami Reddy, who donated land on the banks of the Tulyabhaga River and installed wooden idols of Rama and Sita. A larger stone temple was constructed in 1939, followed by the erection of two monumental gopurams between 1948 and 1958. In 1975, an ornate mirror hall (addala mandapam) was added above the sanctum.
Significance
- Popularly known as 'Chinna Bhadradi' (Little Bhadrachalam), this is one of Andhra Pradesh's most famous Lord Rama temples. The temple is celebrated for its two giant gopurams standing at 160-170 feet and 200-210 feet across 9 and 11 storeys, sculpted with scenes from the Ramayana and Bhagavata. Sri Rama Navami is celebrated with grand annual wedding rituals.
