- Swaminarayan Akshardham Delhi was inspired by Pramukh Swami Maharaj and constructed by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha. Over 11,000 artisans and volunteers collaborated between 2000 and 2005 to build the sprawling stone complex along the Yamuna bank. It was officially inaugurated on November 6, 2005, and holds a Guinness World Record as the World's Largest Comprehensive Hindu Temple.
Significance
- Akshardham Delhi is a grand spiritual landmark constructed entirely from pink sandstone and Italian Carrara marble without structural steel. The central mandir is surrounded by the Gajendra Pith base featuring 148 life-sized carved stone elephants.
