- The origins of Tarapith trace back to ancient legends where Maharishi Vashishta performed Tantric sadhana to attain siddhi from Goddess Tara. According to historical tradition, a temple was established around 1225 CE near the Dwarka River and subsequently renovated by local rulers. The shrine gained widespread prominence during the 19th century through the spiritual legacy of the mystic saint Bamakhepa.
Significance
- Tarapith is recognized as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, marking the sacred spot where Goddess Sati's third eye is believed to have fallen.
