- Rajarani Temple was constructed in the 11th century AD during Somavamsi rule in Bhubaneswar. Built using red and yellow fine-grained sandstone locally known as Rajarani stone, the temple currently has no presiding idol in its sanctum. It is maintained as an architectural monument by the ASI.
Significance
- Rajarani Temple is nicknamed the 'Love Temple' due to its graceful sculpted figures of Nayikas in various moods and postures adorning the outer walls. The temple spire (deula) exhibits cluster spires resembling Pancharatha style, drawing architectural parallels to Khajuraho. It serves as the venue for the annual Rajarani Music Festival hosted by Odisha Tourism.
