- Negheriting Shiva Doul was constructed in 1765 CE by Ahom King Rajeswar Singha on a hillock in Dergaon. The site was selected by Rishi Guru Kachai after discovering an ancient Shiva Lingam in the surrounding forest. The complex features a prominent central spire surrounded by four secondary shrines.
Significance
- The temple complex is constructed in the rare Panchayatana architectural layout, where the central Shiva shrine is encircled by dedicated temples for Vishnu, Ganesha, Surya, and Durga. It is also famous as a natural sanctuary for golden langurs in the surrounding hill forest. It stands as a vital heritage monument in upper Assam.
