History
- Inscriptions attest to the historical antiquity of Srisailam starting from the 1st century CE under the Satavahana dynasty. Major expansions and flight of steps were constructed by the Reddy King Anavema Reddy in the 14th century AD and later Vijayanagara rulers. - Srisailam is one of the rare sacred places in India that houses both a Jyotirlinga (Mallikarjuna Swamy) and a Maha Shakti Peetha (Bhramaramba Devi) within the same complex.
