- According to traditional legends, the temple's deities were consecrated by the sage Veda Vyasa, who performed severe penance on the banks of the Godavari River after the Kurukshetra War. Vyasa crafted the three primary idols of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Kali from sand, which miraculously solidified.
