The mountain peak features 31 Tonks (marble shrines) marking the exact spots of salvation. The base town Madhuban houses historic Digambara and Svetambara dharamshalas and temples.

- Shikharji ('Venerable Peak') atop Parasnath Hill is revered as the most sacred pilgrimage site in Jainism. Pilgrims undertake an arduous 27-kilometer barefoot parikrama trek up the 4,480-foot high mountain peak to pay respects at the 31 Tonks. It is designated as an eco-sensitive spiritual monument.
