History
- According to the Kashi Khand, Kalratri was dispatched as a special emissary of the Supreme Goddess during the cosmic battle against the demon Durgasur. Her fierce exhalations produced massive fireballs that destroyed the demon army. Following the slaying of Durgasur, she remained in Kashi as a protective guardian deity.
